Hot off the press… pupils from the school that wins British Food Fortnight's 'Cook for Life' Challenge, sponsored by Kenwood, will be invited to put their new cooking skills into practice by preparing a sumptuous tea for HRH The Duchess of Cornwall with the help of one of London’s top chefs!

Earlier in the summer the organisers of British Food Fortnight met TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall when Their Royal Highnesses visited the Dig for Victory: War on Waste Allotment in St James's Park.

HRH The Prince of Wales has supported British Food Fortnight's activities in schools by writing forewords for our 'Putting the 'Ooo' back into food' resources.

In addition, Their Royal Highnesses met staff and pupils from Hanover Primary School, Islington, London, and from Belhus Chase Specialist Humanities College, Aveley, Essex, and Robert Milligan, Executive Chef at JP Morgan Chase.

Pupils from Hanover Primary School gave HRH The Duchess of Cornwall a card to mark her birthday. Pupils from Belhus Chase Specialist Humanities College presented Her Royal Highness with a carrot cake made under Robert Milligan's watchful eye using Amsterdam Forcing carrots picked from the allotment. Her Royal Highness used a trowel to cut the cake!

Belhus Chase Specialist Humanities College was one of the winning schools in the 2007 British Food Fortnight 'Cook for Life' Challenge, sponsored by Kenwood, and the pupils present talked about how much they have enjoyed using the Kenwood equipment that they won.

For British Food Fortnight 2008 Hanover Primary School will be holding a Village Fete for which classes and families will have made cakes, preserves, chutneys etc.
