How YOU can take part

There are lots of ways that you can take part in British Food Fortnight.

See the ideas below for information on how you can enjoy British food in your home and when you are shopping and eating out during the Fortnight, in particular “14 things you can do during the Fortnight” – how many of these will you be able to do this year?!

Don't forget to make sure that your children's school is planning to include cookery and food-related activities in their curriculum teaching – by doing so and entering our ‘Cook for Life’ Challenge the school could win class sets of Kenwood cooking equipment.

Encourage your local shop, pub and restaurant to run special tastings and promotions too. Detailed information for producers, retailers, caterers and teachers is provided on this site – please click on the Take Part button and follow the menu.

Published by Walker Books

Sam Stern, the teenage cook, is back with his third cookbook Get Cooking, which is full of fun, healthy recipes themed on different food groups.

Sam’s message – cooking is enjoyable, with and for your mates, and sociable, so get cooking. Published 1 October £9.99 paperback To buy a copy of this book, please follow this link or read more for further details..

After his first two cookbooks, Cooking Up a Storm and Real Food, Real Fast, the celebrity chef Sam Stern wanted a new challenge. And since there’s nobody harder to please than your mates, he asked seven of his friends to choose their favourite ingredients so he could make dishes using the food they liked most. The result? One cracking cookbook with eight sections (including one food chosen from Sam himself), full of great tasting meals and snacks to impress anyone. The ingredients are: tomatoes, cheese, pasta, veg, meat, potatoes, chocolate, sweet stuff with essential extras included at the end.

“There is something magnetic about Sam’s book and, as a utensil for teenagers, it’s perfect.”
The Observer on Cooking Up a Storm

“A fast-food bible for teenagers…He has turned thousands of his teenage peers into masterchefs.”
The Independent on Real Food, Real Fast
